About Alex

Hello, I’m Alex Kalkhofer. My wife Emily and I chose Longmont as our home in 2008, and we’ve grown deep roots here since then.

My background is diverse – I’m half Cuban and half Austrian. This cultural mix, along with my early experience working in my mom’s Cuban/Mexican restaurant in Miami Beach, shaped my understanding of hard work and the importance of small businesses.

Now, we’re raising our two children in Longmont’s public schools. Our family, including our dog, thrives in this community. Longmont’s strong sense of community and city services make it an ideal place for us.

Professionally, I’ve worked in Supply Chain for over 15 years, currently with a telehealth company. My passion for Longmont has led me to serve on several boards:

  • Boulder County Advisory Board for the Community Action Program
  • City of Longmont Transportation Advisory Board
  • Longmont Elks Lodge Board of Trustees

These roles have given me insight into our city’s workings and needs. Longmont has been good to my family, and I want to give back. I believe in this city – its people, services, and potential. That’s why I’m committed to making Longmont even better for everyone.

I aim to encourage community involvement and smart growth. With my work experience and community service, I’m eager to help shape Longmont’s future. I want to preserve what makes Longmont special while preparing for the future, balancing our history with progress that benefits all community members.

Thank you for getting to know me. I look forward to working with you to enhance our great city!
